The Only Whole Haggis In A Tin

A traditional Scottish product, easily transported and having a long shelf life without refrigeration.

As our haggis has been consumed in all five continents, this is an important point for many travellers and haggis connoisseurs.

Haggis is no longer a product only to be enjoyed once a year at a Burns Supper but is available all year round in many countries across the globe.

Stahly Quality Foods have been supplying award winning haggis around the world since 1994.

The Stahly family name has been associated with quality food since 1923 when Fred Stahly, Snr. first opened his butcher shop in Kirkcaldy High Street in Fife. Grandson, Ken Stahly, joined the family business in 1975, later taking over the running of the factory where he developed the unique concept of producing tinned haggis in a skin.

HERITAGE

Stahly Quality Foods have been supplying award winning haggis around the world since 1994.

The Stahly family name has been associated with quality food since 1923 when Fred Stahly, Snr and his wife, Elizabeth, first opened a butcher shop in Kirkcaldy High Street in Fife.

Their son, Fred jnr and his wife, Ann, took over the shop in 1968, quickly expanding to include manufacturing and wholesale of meat products, pies, haggis and black pudding.

F. Stahly & Son was quickly recognised, not only in Fife, but around Scotland as a premier Scottish food producer. Fred jnr won the British National Meat Master title in 1984 and went on to win the European Gold Cup for their famous black pudding.

The pictures of the Queen Mother were taken in 1983 at the Royal Smithfield Christmas Show in London.

Fred and Ann Stahly went annually to the show and often bought the Show Champion. That year they bought the Smithfield Champion, which was a Charolais/Aberdeen Angus Cross called Blondie and belonged to the Queen Mother. A sirloin roast from the beast was later sent to Clarence House and a thank you letter was received from the Queen Mother which Ann Stahly has kept.

Grandson, Ken Stahly joined the family business in 1975, later taking over the running of the factory where he developed the unique concept of producing tinned haggis in a skin. The tinned haggis was launched at the Royal Highland Show, Ingliston, Edinburgh in 1992. HRH Princess Anne did a tour of the food hall and visited the Stahly stand, where she tasted the new products and gave them her Royal seal of approval. Ken recognised great potential for this unique new product and Stahly Quality Foods was launched in April 1994 with three varieties of canned haggis.

Thanks to three generations of the Stahly family, Scotland’s national dish can now be enjoyed around the world.

Today, Stahly Quality Foods Ltd. is a rapidly expanding business, having recently moved to brand new, purpose-built premises in Glenrothes, Fife. Producing high quality products mainly for the Scottish gift trade but also supplying delicatessens, independent retailers and department stores, the company can boast sales in all five continents throughout the world and a manufacturing partner in Chicago producing tinned haggis to satisfy the US* and Canadian markets.
