Ardglass has seven castles, including four medieval tower houses, more than any other town in Ireland, which reflects its importance as Ulster's busiest port in the 15th century.
We don’t do ordinary
We like to think we offer something a little extraordinary. For starters, our cottage is ‘upside down’. We’re perched on the side of the hill you see, and we believe that the best views are to be had the higher up you are.
So you can sit in our upstairs Drawing Room beside the roaring open fire and take in the stunning views for miles and miles and miles. And should you fancy a little company, our resident moggy Michael O’Shea, will happily, if somewhat lazily, oblige.
Stay with us for two or more nights and enjoy a special afternoon treat: Scrumptious Afternoon Tea, providing the perfect pit-stop from sightseeing, golfing, fishing or exploring.
Help yourself to a selection of freshly home-baked goodies such as Guinness cake, carrot cake, millionaire’s shortbread or fresh cream éclairs. All with freshly brewed tea of coffee – compliments of the house.
Get up & Get together
That’s why we like nothing better than to gather our guests around one big table for breakfast, served in our Drawing Room and overlooking the lush links of Ardglass Golf Club.
Fill up on Auntie Aveen’s home-baked breads or get tips on that tricky 2nd ‘Howd’s Hole’ over an Ulster Fry - made from free range eggs from down the road. Indulge in delicious locally smoked salmon with bagels before some sightseeing or warm the cockles of your heart with a big mug of hot chocolate before a stroll along the harbour.
The stuff of dreams
Snuggle up in one of three luxurious bedrooms, ‘Inis Fraoigh’, ‘Inis Deala’ or ‘Inis Mór,’ - named after Ireland’s beautiful islands.
This comfortable, luxurious room contains a king-size bed and a modern ensuite shower room. Built in the oldest part of the cottage, Inis Fraoigh opens onto a colourful, private courtyard, laden with pots of geraniums and sweet pea in the summer, where you can enjoy the sun and relax.
This bright and cosy double room boasts stunning views across to the rugged County Down coastline and Ardglass Golf Club. Pure wool Chess cushions and warm, snugly throws adorn the bed and guests are provided with luxurious bathrobes and complimentary slippers so you can walk comfortably to your private bathroom.
is our spacious twin room with fabulous views of the rugged County Down coastline. It can also be adapted into a spacious family room, accommodating a super king-size bed and another single guest-bed. It can also be made into a more “dormitory style” room with three single beds.
